Position Overview

Responsible for leading communications team and related resources.  Also provides support in the development, planning, implementation and measurement of internal communications, public relations and social media initiatives for ServiceMaster corporate or one of its subsidiaries. Responsible for developing and streamlining communications to the field, as well as managing public relations campaign rollouts, and some social media platforms, integration and service.




Job Responsibilities

Internal Communications

  • May direct the work of Communication team members and external resources.
  • Serve as adjunct member of functional leadership teams, and provide support for key initiatives.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and execution of internal communications strategy and plans.
  • Act as a culture change agent to drive adoption of behaviors and performance expectations within stand-alone business.
  • Ensure alignment of key messages and strategy in support of the company’s vision and business plans.
  • Support employee communications and activities, including executive communications employee recognition programs, business critical initiatives, town hall meetings, and other notable company events.
  • Manage intranet and other communication channels for the business and subsidiaries by writing content,  managing video production, preparing executive correspondence and presentations, developing web/digital content and other communications as needed.
  • Ensures messaging is clear and appropriate for various stakeholder groups, and equip managers with tools to be a confident resource for their employees
  • Support M&A integration efforts as needed to shift general communications to a digital mindset and maximize company digital technologies
  • Maintain proficiency in tools and platforms that enable convenient and efficient communication throughout the organization, including digital signage, mobile applications, corporate intranet, e-newsletters, and company-wide conference calls/video meetings

Public Relations

  • Manages public relations and social media agency resources, as well as freelance contractors.
  • Monitors performance metrics for internal communications, public relations, and social media; prepares analytics reports as assigned.      
  • Develops compelling story angles, identifies media trends, news cycles and brand-building opportunities to keep the company relevant and enhance corporate reputation.
  • Develops content for news releases, byline articles, keynote presentations and other external communications.
  • Manages media inquires, interview requests, and issues management.
  • Cultivates strong working knowledge of business operations and works with appropriate functional teams in developing response to inquiries
  • Maintains a keen understanding of PR and digital communications industry trends and makes appropriate recommendations to support strategy.
  • Provide real-time crisis communication support, engaging media as well as develop key messages for internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage online newsroom and investor relation website for parent company
  • Work with investor relations team and executive leadership to coordinate quarterly earnings releases and earnings calls and lead the production of annual report

Social Media

  • May manage social media accounts to facilitate online conversations and resolve issues or inquires on Facebook and Twitter for the brand.
  • Manage social media training, governance and policy for corporate accounts and authorized users
  • May manage consumer and commercial LinkedIn accounts and manages commercial Facebook and Twitter accounts.
  • Leverage social media channels to optimize PR results and drive audience engagement.



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 5+ years of related corporate experience in communications, public relations, marketing communications, or related field.
  • Experience in developing and leading proactive multimedia communications campaigns.
  • Experience with various communication technologies platforms
  • May manage project/program budgets
  • Solid understanding of corporate communications and its impact on the business.
  • Proven exceptional writing skills and ability to tailor messages to specific and multiple constituencies.
  • Ability to think strategically, with solid business knowledge, organizational savvy and negotiation skills
  • High level of energy, self-confidence, and enthusiasm with ability to work well with team members and all levels of management
  • Ability to respond to rapidly changing conditions with agility and imagination, capitalizing on emerging communication opportunities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multitask, organize, prioritize and follow through on commitments.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and manage confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and excellent working knowledge of Internet/intranet.
  • Ability to translate complex product offerings into digestible stories.

• Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.

• Fingering and Repetitive motions; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.

• Express or exchange ideas with others through the use of spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in the nature of sounds in the environment.


Incumbent is required to have: 

• Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy,  such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.
