Position Overview

Prospects for new customers via phone, and in-person within relevant industries including; but not limited to, property management accounts, multi-family, retirement communities, assisted living, medical facilities, hospitality, call centers and mass transit to present and close on commercial bedbug pest control services and products. Utilizes the companies “no prep” program to develop an account list of regular uses while continuing to call and develop new opportunities.  Also, identifies additional opportunities for General Pest Control, bird work, exclusion and other pest control and will bring other CSP’s to further develop these programs.  The Bedbug CSP will remain focused on bedbug opportunities only.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prospects for new customers via phone interactivity through tip groups, networking, cross- selling and referrals, and by canvassing for large potential customers.
  • Utilizes daily phone blocks of at least 30 touches.  The expectation of at least 2 additional appointments per day from this activity.
  • Conducts a minimum of three face-to-face calls per day that include inspection, proposals, and sales presentations.
  • Performs Cloverleafing (cold calls) at least two hours per day of physically going into the targeted facilities mentioned for introduction and discovery of needs and primary contact information. 
  • Bedbug CSP will be onsite for initial treatments to assure QA and high level of communications between customers and technicians.
  • Follows up on each treatment to ensure customer satisfaction of service and products and to obtain referrals for new business.
  • Composes and submits weekly sales activities and updates to sales manager.
  • Becomes the subject matter expert on bedbug activity and treatment.
  • Attends annual national Bedbug Conference.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have completed Aspire Training
  • Must have pest control license in the area to be covered
  • Must spend 1 week with the team responsible for the “no prep” rollout program to assure understanding of the sales approach that Terminix is migrating to
  • Must ride for 5 days with current CSP primarily performing bedbug treatments
  • 1-2 years experience in business-to-business (B2B) sales; proven sales history with increasing sales amounts year after year
  • Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, presentation skills, gaining commitment, negotiation)
  • Skill in taking independent action and being a self-starter
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to explain complicated or technical information in simplistic terms for customer’s benefit
  • Ability to build customer relationships and provide appropriate levels of customer service
  • Business acumen and the ability to calculate numbers and amounts
  • Skill with Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Skill in adapting to new company software and using the internet to research target industries and specific businesses
  • Ability to travel locally on an extensive basis

Incumbent must be prepared to:

  • Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise re-positioning objects.  
  • Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers, phones and etc.
  • Fingering and Repetitive motions; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.
  • Express or exchange ideas with others through the use of spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discrimination in the nature of sounds in the environment.

Incumbent is required to have: 

  • Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy,  such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.

Incumbent will be subject to:

  • Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
