Position Overview

Acts as an advocate for strategic pricing actions throughout the company and drives the thinking around achieving growth and retention through pricing.  Utilizes necessary analytics to understand and develop viable solutions through data analysis, predictive modeling, business process improvement and advanced analytic techniques. Responsible for leading the development and pursuit of growth opportunities related to pricing, helping to drive execution as required and establishing organization objectives that will accelerate growth. Partners cross-functionally to define pricing strategies and to identify pricing opportunities. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads design and management of price tests; as well as customer segmentation, to tailor pricing actions based on expected behavior of pricing segments.
  • Collaborates with marketing and other functional teams and leaders to develop and execute analytic outputs.
  • Proposes strategic pricing actions to key stakeholders based on analysis; partners with stakeholders to execute against identified pricing opportunities and measure impact.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to proactively create business rules, deploy analytics, and manage decisions.
  • Handles data preparation, data fields, and updates of various projects. Ensures accuracy of results produced, as-a-result of data analytics.
  • Quantifies potential and actual benefits in terms of quality, cost and delivery.
  • Establishes appropriate controls, metrics, and monitoring processes to ensure gains are sustained.
  • Transforms customer data into standard, insightful metrics/reporting, and analytics in support of stronger product and sales pricing decisions.
  • Manages pricing efforts; delivers pricing insights and action recommendations and ensures timely delivery of output.
  • Performs post-campaign analysis on products, services and sales promotions to determine the return on investment.
  • Analyzes churn by customer segments and develops pricing treatments designed to retain customers.
  • Develops models that will help predict sales volumes and financial returns given prospective pricing changes.
  • Analyzes the competitive environment and pricing approaches that take advantage of pricing opportunities presented by competitors.
  • Performs bi-annual pricing reviews that adjust pricing to support the company’s strategic goals (e.g. share growth, customer retention, segment growth)
  • Develops bottoms-up financial analysis of the underlying cost to offer each product and service and develop pricing that enables the desired profit margin.
  • Translates financial modeling into actionable plans that are captured in presentations that you present to senior management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 – 7 years directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • BS/BA in related discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Engineering strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills (including problem structuring, detailed analysis and recommendation development)
  • Strong financial analysis & modeling skills, ability to analyze and synthesize
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including the ability to write compelling presentations)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working on teams
  • Ability to demonstrate drive, energy and self-motivation
  • Ability to build strategic working relationships
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of database management
  • Ability to procure and clean data
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to lead a team focused on key business objectives and strategic business analysis

Incumbent is required to have:

  • Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.
