Position Overview

The Fleet Maintenance Manager oversees and maintains effective fleet maintenance and fuel programs. Manages and audits vehicle maintenance and fuel programs to include the development and oversight of procedures, policies, vendors, and warranty adjustments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement and communicate fleet maintenance and fuel policies, procedures, and provide compliance oversight to ensure those procedures and policies are maintained.
  • Manages the performance of our Fleet Management Company’s maintenance services to ensure they are meeting our needs, providing fleet maintenance and repair services in a timely and within-budget manner
  • Assist in the development of maintenance budget by providing input relative to policy, costs and established metrics
  • Contributes subject matter expertise, guidance, and metrics to sourcing and other fleet managers on projects/contracts that directly and indirectly relate to fleet maintenance and fuel activities.
  • Initiates, innovates, implements projects and processes that improve maintenance and fuel efficiency and/or reduce operating costs along with providing recommendations on fleet utilization and replacements
  • Monitors, analyzes and investigate issues related to maintenance or fuel activities to determine the cause of the complaint and implement corrective actions to rectify defects as required
  • Identifies diagnoses and performs root-cause analysis of issues and performance improvements of underperforming Divisions assisting in the development and rollout of plans to improve their maintenance or fuel performance.
  • Assists warranty team with data collection and warranty/policy adjustment recovery
  • Prepares national account billing for approval and payment, conducts audits of maintenance and fuel charges to for excessive charges.
  • Compiles and prepare regular weekly and monthly maintenance and fuel reports and ensures achievement of all maintenance-related key performance indicators (KPIs)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience managing vehicle maintenance services and have previous experience working with a large fleet
  • Knowledge of Fleet Maintenance and Fuel policies and procedures
  • Project management skills
  • Good communication, decision making and time management skills
  • Ability to identify, problem solve and recommend solutions
  • Any of the following certifications are a plus: NAFA CAFM certification, or CAFS certification, or Fleet Discipline Certificate Program – Maintenance Management, or ASE Certified Service Consultant or ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician

Incumbent is required to have:

  • Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.

Incumbent will be subject to:

  • Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
