Position Overview

Provides leadership, guidance & support by ensuring consistent development, implementation and execution of integrated strategies and solutions with regard to all environmental health and safety issues. Manage the safety department and regulatory compliance inspections. Interfaces with all regulatory agencies regarding inspections, compliance issues, occurrences and employee safety complaints. Develops and implements environmental, health, and safety related training programs and policies.




Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, guidance & support by ensuring consistent development, implementation and execution of integrated strategies and solutions with regard to all environmental health and safety issues.
  • Identifies non-complaint locations and business units with potential environmental, health, and safety violations within a defined geographic location.
  • Supports the Division Vice President and Regional Managers in activities related to the development of business in the respective region as it relates to safety processes, risk assessments, start-up of operations, etc.
  • Analyze trends to make recommendations on how to improve key performance indicators results.
  • Supports regional management systems and strategies that ensure cost effective business solutions in the areas of Employee Safety & Health, Transportation Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Hazardous Materials, Ergonomics and Environment for both facilities and vehicular operations.
  • Ensures Servicemaster’s business goals and objectives are met by identifying, reporting, and providing solutions to the region managers regarding employee safety programs, regulatory compliance, security breaches and employee health issues.
  • Ensures operating managers take the appropriate action to address loss drivers in workers compensation, auto liability and general liability.
  • Manage the safety department and regulatory compliance inspections.
  • Interfaces with all regulatory agencies regarding inspections, compliance issues, occurrences and employee safety complaints.
  • Develops and implements environmental, health, and safety related training programs and policies.



Job Requirements

  • B.S. Occupational Safety Management, Risk Management or related field plus 5 years of direct field safety experience in managing safety and health required
  • M.S. Degree in Safety Management, Risk Management or related field preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or Certified Industrial
  • Hygienist preferred
  • Strong interactive skills operating within a matrix environment
  • Ability to facilitate training for all levels of employees, supervision and management
  • Self-starter and able to work alone while demonstrating ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills dealing with all levels of employees, customers, and management
  • Able to impact and effect positive change with flexibility
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills

Incumbent must be prepared to:

  • Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.
  • Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers, phones and etc.
  • Fingering and Repetitive motions; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.
  • Express or exchange ideas with others through the use of spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in the nature of sounds in the environment.


Incumbent is required to have:

  • Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.

Incumbent will be subject to:

  • Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
