Job Description



Position Overview

Develops and administers policies and programs to ensure all facilities are in compliance with OSHA and other safety and health requirements and that employee safety programs are developed and carried out.  May be responsible for highway safety where applicable.  May be responsible for hazardous waste control and disposal activities including training, collection, disposal, and record maintenance and for resources conservation programs within the organization.




Job Responsibilities

  • Leads employee environment, safety, and health efforts in support to the business goals and objectives.
  • Provides leadership, support, and technical assistance for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the business unit’s environment, safety & health programs, management systems, and policies/procedures.
  • Collaboratively refines and further develops the long-term strategic vision for the company’s EHS mandate.
  • Establishes and maintains the company’s compliance program.
  • Directs domestic and international compliance programs, policies, training and practices to ensure that core business remains in compliance with pesticide policies and reporting regulations.
  • Develops and effectively communicates to line management the annual environment, safety & health, and compliance plan and goals and develops supporting action plans to facilitate cost effective implementation.
  • Audits subcontractor compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures the EHS and Compliance goals are aligned with business goals and drives process improvements and results.
  • Develops solutions (policies/procedures, training programs, technology, etc.) to critical employee injury and collision loss areas and supports deployment and implementation of same.
  • Establishes appropriate performance metrics and reports on performance.
  • Develops and manages department EHS and Compliance budget.
  • In conjunction with internal and expert legal advice; evaluates the level of compliance with company/government contracting requirements and applicable rules and regulations.
  • Develops the ability of others to perform and contribute to the organization by providing ongoing feedback and by providing opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods.
  • In conjunction with internal and external legal experts; is responsible for analyzing new and proposed legislation that impacts company operations, products, services or distribution channels and initiates appropriate action.



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or similar field, 8+ years experience in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
  • Broad knowledge of federal, state, OSHA, and safety management systems
  • Strong planning, analytical, and influencing skills
  • Strong business/financial acumen
  • Creative and innovative

Incumbent must be prepared to:

• Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.  

• Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers, phones and etc.

• Fingering and Repetitive motions; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.

• Express or exchange ideas with others through the use of spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in the nature of sounds in the environment.


Incumbent is required to have: 

• Close visual acuity to perform detail oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy,  such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.


Incumbent will be subject to:

• Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
